PRACTICAL EVACUATION, IMPROVISED SPLINTING AND TRANSPORTATION SKILLS: Participants will practice utilizing improvised and specialized rescue equipment to stabilize and transport trauma patients. Howard Donner, MD

OCEAN SURVIVAL: Survival at sea requires a set of skills and equipment often not familiar to the land based survivalist. This presentation reviews a spectrum of ocean survival situations, preparation, & equipment. Sheryl Olson, RN, BSN

PRACTICAL & CUTTING EDGE ADVANCES IN GLOBAL HEALTH: The Medical Director of HopeCore (A Kenyan based non-profit) for over 18 years shares his organization's journey of challenges and successes in humanitarian medicine & poverty eradication. Phil Rasori, MD

FRACTURE, SPRAINS & DISLOCATION MANAGEMENT: Methods for recognizing, reducing, and splinting fractures and dislocations in the backcountry will be demonstrated. Joe Serra, MD

WILDERNESS WISDOM FOR WOMEN: In the backcountry, women often have different needs and concerns than men. This workshop will address topics such as packing light, personal safety, and other unique needs of a woman traveling in the wilderness or a foreign country. Sheryl Olson, RN

MOUNTAIN METEOROLOGY: A review of meteorology, geared towards improving prediction of potential weather hazards in a wilderness setting. Howard Donner, MD

TAKING CHILDREN SAFELY INTO THE WILDERNESS: Covers common medical issues for children in backcountry/foreign travel. Learn how to maximize enjoyment, appreciation, and safety on family wilderness trips. Karen Van Hoesen, MD
